About Me

Through my lens, I capture wildlife moments that tell untamed stories of nature

I’m Pujan Prajapati, 20 years old, better known as Wildlifemamu, which means “Wildlife Uncle” in English — mamu means uncle in Gujarati. My nephew knows me by this name, and over time it became a part of who I am, representing my love for wildlife, storytelling, and connection with nature.

I was born and raised in Kenya, surrounded by the beauty of the wild, and I’m currently based in the United States, where I’m pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Photography has been part of my life since I was about six, when I started experimenting with a small digital camera on family trips. That curiosity turned into a passion, and eventually, a dedication to capturing the raw emotion, beauty, and power of wildlife.

I am a self-taught photographer. I’ve learned through observation, experience, and inspiration from other wildlife photographers whose work I admire. I study my own photos to improve composition, experiment with light and perspective, and develop storytelling within each shot. My goal is not just to take pictures but to create images that inspire connection, understanding, and respect for wildlife.

The name Wildlifemamu became official in 2024, though it had been part of my identity since 2023, when I first started sharing videos with my nephew about animals. By 2025, the brand fully came to life with its own logo, representing my vision, style, and creative journey.

I’ve always believed that “Opportunities don’t happen, you create them!!” This mindset drives my photography and my life. Every photo is a chance to share the story of an animal, to show the beauty of nature, and to encourage people to care about conservation.

When I’m not photographing or editing, I’m exploring new environments, imagining new ways to tell stories, and planning my next trips to capture wildlife and life around the world. My vision is to travel extensively, grow Wildlifemamu, collaborate with other photographers who inspire me, and create work that connects people to nature through visuals and emotion.

🐾 Through my lens, I aim to inspire, connect, and protect. 🐾

The Story Behind Wildlifemamu

The name Wildlifemamu first came to life because of my nephew. When he was just about seven months old, my sister showed him one of my wildlife videos, where I shared photos and stories of a specific animal. He instantly smiled, completely captivated. Every session featured a new animal, and each new video sparked his curiosity and excitement.

As he grew, he began asking questions about the animals, recognizing them, and developing a love for wildlife that continues to this day. My sister reflects on how much Wildlifemamu — through these videos and photos — inspired his curiosity and care for animals, even at such a young age.

For me, this means everything. Knowing that my work can spark joy, curiosity, and a connection to wildlife across generations is what drives me to keep creating.

“When he was around six or seven months old, I showed him Wildlifemamu, and he immediately smiled. Each video featured a different animal, and he couldn’t get enough. Even now, as he approaches three, he still lights up at every video and asks so many questions about the animals. I truly believe Wildlifemamu has played a big role in nurturing his love for wildlife.”

My Journey

2019

Where It All Began

DISCOVERING MY PASSION FOR WILDLIFE

This was the year everything started. During a family trip to Maasai Mara, I picked up a DSLR for the first time and captured my first wildlife photos. Seeing those images made me realize how beautiful and powerful nature really is. That experience sparked my passion for wildlife photography and the dream to show the world what I see through my lens.

My First DSLR

LEARNING THE ART OF OBSERVATION

Getting my first DSLR changed everything. I spent hours experimenting with settings, angles, and light — trying to capture the emotion behind every scene. Most of my early photos were imperfect, but each one taught me patience and the importance of waiting for the right moment.

Growing Passion & Patience

EXPLORING BEYOND THE FRAME

By now, photography had become more than a hobby. I started studying animal behavior, learning how timing, light, and silence could make or break a shot. Every photo became a reminder that patience in the wild often rewards you with something truly magical.

Building Skills & Confidence

TURNING CURIOSITY INTO CRAFT

This was the year I began refining my style — editing with purpose, framing with emotion, and chasing stories rather than just photos. I started understanding that great wildlife photography isn’t only about what’s seen, but also what’s felt in the moment.

The Idea of Wildlifemamu

WHERE A DREAM TOOK SHAPE

Wildlifemamu was born as more than a name — it became a part of who I am. Inspired by my nephew calling me “Mamu” (uncle), the idea represented both family and the wild. I wanted it to be a space where my photos could speak for the voiceless — the creatures that make our planet truly alive.

Becoming Wildlifemamu

SHARING MY STORY THROUGH THE LENS

This was the year I started building my identity as Wildlifemamu. I took my camera everywhere I could — from national parks to quiet forests — documenting moments that felt pure and unscripted. Every shot became a story, and every story brought me closer to my purpose.

The Journey Continues

A STORY STILL IN THE MAKING

Today, I continue to learn, grow, and evolve with every click. My goal is to share not just photos, but emotions — the quiet beauty and raw truth of the wild. The journey of Wildlifemamu is still unfolding, one frame at a time.
